# Open an EDGE Demo or Live Account

Open an EDGE demo or live account from the Cabinet, or request a demo on the EDGE page and receive your login, password and server by email.

## Before you start

* You need a Cabinet account. See [Create an Account](/getting-started/create-an-account.md).
* For a live account, your identity must be verified. See [Identity Verification](/getting-started/identity-verification.md).
* Install MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5, or use the web or mobile version. See [MetaTrader 4: Install and Log In](/accounts-and-platforms/trading-platforms/metatrader-4/install-and-log-in.md) and [MetaTrader 5: Install and Log In](/accounts-and-platforms/trading-platforms/metatrader-5/install-and-log-in.md).

## Request an EDGE demo

### In the Cabinet

1. Sign in to the Cabinet and select **Create a Demo account** in the left menu, or open **Accounts** and select **+ Create a New Demo Account**.
2. On the **Create a new demo account** form, keep **Forex** under **Trading market** and choose **MT4** or **MT5** under **Platform**.
3. Under **Account type**, choose **EDGE ILC**. Under **Currency type**, choose USD, EUR or GBP. Under **Cash amount**, choose the virtual balance for the demo.
4. Select **Continue**. The login, password and server arrive by email, and the account appears on an account card under **Accounts**.

### On the EDGE page

1. Open the [EDGE page](https://www.tradeviewmarkets.com/en/edge/) on the Tradeview website and select **Open a Demo Account Now**.
2. Complete the form and submit it. The process is the same as for every other demo request: the credentials arrive by email.

## Open an EDGE live account

1. Sign in to the Cabinet, open **Accounts**, and select **+ Create a New Live Account**.
2. On the **Account type** step, keep **Forex and CFDs** under **Trading market** and choose **MT4** or **MT5** under **Platform**.
3. Under **Account type**, choose **EDGE ILC**. Under **Currency type**, choose USD, EUR or GBP.
4. Select **Continue**, complete the request, and wait for the account to appear under **Accounts** with its login and server. The credentials also arrive by email.
5. Fund the account. See [Deposits](/funding-and-transfers/deposits.md).
6. Log in to MetaTrader with the login, password and server from the account card, and trade the `.edge` symbols. See [Trade .edge symbols](/edge/trade-edge-symbols.md).

## If you already have a Tradeview account

| Your situation                                        | What to do                                                                                                                                                                               |
| ----------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| You have an ILC or XLev account                       | Open an EDGE account in addition, with the steps above, or change the existing account to EDGE when it is flat. See [Migrate an existing account](/edge/migrate-an-existing-account.md). |
| Your account sits under an introducing broker         | The account cannot be changed to EDGE. Open an additional EDGE account in the Cabinet.                                                                                                   |
| You have a Cabinet account but no trading account yet | Open an EDGE account with the steps above. The Cabinet shows the account type as **EDGE ILC**.                                                                                           |
| You already have one EDGE account                     | A second EDGE account is available after the first one is funded.                                                                                                                        |
